Over 100 lbs. Of Marijuana Seized

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A traffic stop in Florence County led to the discovery of over 100 pounds of marijuana. Florence County deputies initiated a traffic stop on Monday for a moving violation along I-95 near the 164-mile marker. During the stop, deputies said there was probable cause to search the car which resulted in them finding about $300,000 worth of marijuana.

Deputies arrested 34-year-old Hongzhou Yu of Covina, California. He is charged with trafficking marijuana, which if convicted, carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Yu is being held at the Florence County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.

It sure is amazing how so many states and cities across this nation can profit from the growing and selling of marijuana while so many others are going to prison for the same thing. It is a conversation that seems to never be on the table. Right here in Michigan we have hundreds of inmates doing time for cannabis while the state is making millions per month on it. This is hypocritical at best and seems to create a reality that is unthinkable.

Here we have headlines about someone with 100 lbs of marijuana that is likely facing how many years in prison? Meanwhile corporations across the country can manufacture thousands of pounds and profit millions of dollars? It is no hidden secret that corporations have taken over the cannabis industry nationwide in so many ways. This is the direct result of corporate sponsored cannabis laws that have paved the way for these high level criminals to operate under the protection of current legislation and licenses. They have successfully cut the market so deeply that many farmers have quit all together. The tactics are blatant and obvious to anyone with a clear vision that is not clouded by profit or politics. First they paid off the politicians to create a playing field that they control. Second, they cut prices so low that few would survive. It is a corporate takeover of the cannabis industry that has been very successful.
